To do this, imagine someone’s hand in the middle of your back. Try to pinch that hand with your shoulder blades. You can practice this while standing freely or by hanging from your pull-up bar and bringing those shoulder blades in. This movement engages your lats, the large set of muscles in your back, that are critical supporting muscles.

After you retract your scapulas, you want to pull your body upward toward the bar. This requires flexion of the elbow joint, or the bending of your arms. In order to flex the elbow joint, the biceps and supporting arm and back muscles are called into action.

Finally, you need to lower yourself back to where you began. For this, your triceps and shoulders kick into gear. And let’s not forget the grip strength needed just to hold onto the bar.

My reminder to myself today.💕💕💕

Everyone has slip ups on this journey we call fitness...
For example, Last night I over-indulged and went wayyy over my calorie count for the day 😩😩😩😩😩 We’ve all fallen victim to this late-night binge eating before. You wake up feeling bloated, full of carbs & disappointment, yelling at yourself for being so weak.

This is the situation I found myself in this morning, but then I sat down with a cup of green tea 🍵(metabolism booster & detoxer hayy). Spent some time with my journal detailing what I WANT my relationship with food to be like, reminded myself that it is possible, came up with a plan to make up for my extra calorie intake yesterday, and then I started to forgive myself a little bit. .
.
No one is perfect 100% of the time, and one day of bad eating isn’t going to ruin all of your hard work. So remember that and forgive yourself for being human!  BUT, don’t stop there... I try to look at it realistically and come up with a plan to prevent the frequency of my slip ups. .
.
Ask yourself, What are my triggers? What foods am I most likely to binge on if I keep them in the house? 🎂🍦🍭🍩🍫🍿
Don’t give up the things you love completely but also don’t feed a bad habit. For me, I can’t keep peanut butter or popcorn in the house anymore because I know I can’t portion control those two foods.  I didn’t cut them out of my life but now I only have them as treats, not as a “keep a full supply in the pantry” kind of food. .

So next time you slip up, here’s what you do.
1. Forgive yourself for the mistake
2. Evaluate why you slipped up in the first place
3. Look for ways to prevent it in the future. 💕💕💕
