I’m sure you’ve heard people say one is better than the other but it really depends on the context you’re talking about. They are both great in specific situations and don’t let anyone else tell you either wise . If you are trying to lose fat and your calories aren’t as high as they would normally be, choosing more slow digestion options 80 percent of the time is the key to not going over your calories. On the other hand if you are in a calorie surplus trying to gain lean muscle, fast digesting food will help you get more calories in without feeling full all the time . I would apply the 80/20 rule to fast vs slow digestion in a calorie deficit and a 70/30 rule to when you’re in a calorie surplus . My next group of online clients starts on April 5th. Oh well, for those who haven’t seen it.. there y’all go! - Did you know this? - I bet all of you wonder why, even if you start dieting, your weight just doesn’t want to go down. And no, it’s not because you’re “special”, “God hates you” or whatever your reason might be.. the simple answer is: Water retention. - And besides the muscle gains that could happen for beginners [(and still impair WEIGHT) but not fat loss] let’s take a finer look at what happens to the fat cells once you start dieting. - When you start eating at a caloric deficit, meaning that you’re now providing less nutrients to your body, for it to use its internal stores of energy, your fat cells start releasing fat for the “missing” energy not coming from your diet. - However, because these cells are VERY stubborn, they get refilled with water first, before saying the final goodbye. - It’s like a double check from your body which’s telling you: “are you really wanting me to release this precious stored energy?” - Yeah.. This means your weight could fluctuate alot and even go higher, freak you out more and make you quit, but you shouldn’t. I know how frustrating it is to see your weight either stall or go higher when you’re depriving yourself, but that’s just the way it is! - You’re just one step further from finally losing the water weight which is literally MASKING your progress, and finally reveal your hard work done in the past weeks. - As always consistency is key. So let’s say that you’d like to lose a bit of weight and you’re aiming for a certain caloric target. You get all set on Sunday night and you eat super well and stay at your 1800 calorie target Monday - Thursday....then the weekend happens and you go overboard. But you were so good all week that you must have lost weight, right? Wrong - if your average daily calorie intake is higher than your target, you’ll probably stay about the same weight. If it’s higher then you what you burn then you’ll gain weight . This doesn’t mean that you can’t have some wine or some pizza but it means that you should try to factor those extra calories in and plan on eating less earlier in the day. And don’t let one binge lead to another and then just say you’ll restart on Monday. Start again the next meal 😊👍🏼 . Remember that perfection isn’t the goal. It’s to be relatively good consistently. It’s the only way to sustain a lifestyle that’s healthy AND enjoyable 😎😋 . 💥Tips For Flexible Dieting😋 ⠀ When you’re eating out at a restaurant, the last thing you want to be doing is stressing about the calories (or what’s in the food - me sometimes lol - hi ☺️👋) ⠀ Especially if it’s an occasion where you get all did up and really just want to spend that time with friends, family, lovers, co-workers, etc. 👽 ⠀ ⠀ So the goal here is to eat less but still enjoy delicious meals 😅 Quite simple, yes. I’m not saying it’s easy. Change is a big beast to slay. But you need to keep things simple… ⠀ Let’s chat about a few strategies that will help you stay on track more consistently when it comes to restaurants, events, family gatherings, and the like 😌 ⠀ I’m not a fan of strict rules, but instead, certain strategies to follow that allow flexibility and enjoyment as a result 💯 ⠀ Here they are 🙌 ⠀ Fasting or light meal upon waking... ⠀ Fewer meals overall - try to avoid snacking... ⠀ Fruit, veggies, bone broth, or smoothies as staples for the morning/afternoon... ⠀ Immerse your focus into work, hobbies, or other activities... ⠀ Embracing a little hunger is okay - most is probably just in your head... ⠀ Of course, everyone’s schedule is different, but the idea is that if you’re only working with a little calories (women especially), you’ll want to “save” those calories for when you’ll naturally be eating more (the evenings usually) 🙃 ⠀ If it’s a day event, just switch your mornings and evenings around… ⠀ Along the lines of immersing your focus - make sure you’re doing things to keep your mind off food (this is related to the mental part of hunger) 👍 ⠀ Now here’s the important part to that, don’t burn yourself out. Melons are great because they provide so much volume for few calories and it could take an hour to eat a bowl of melon like this☺️ ⠀ 🍈How I pick my cantaloupe🍈 They have been really good this year so I definitely recommend buying one next time you’re in store. 🔸Find one heavy for its size 🔸Make sure there are no major blemishes. 🔸Press on the underside of the stem and if soft, it’s ripe. ⠀ 🍉How to pick a good watermelon🍉 🔹Find one heavy for its size 🔹Find one that has a large sun spot 🔹Find one with brown marks that feel and look kind of like tree bark. Then, Intermittent Fasting might be for you. ⠀⠀ ☕️ First, what is it? ⠀⠀ 👉🏼 Intermittent Fasting is a meal timing strategy that makes sticking to a calorie deficit much easier by controlling WHEN you eat. ⠀⠀ 💥 Intermittent Fasting works by breaking your day into two parts: ⠀⠀ 1️⃣ A fasting window, where you do NOT consume calories. ⠀⠀ 2️⃣ An eating window, where you DO consume calories. ⠀⠀ ☕️ Your fasting window is typically from the time you wake up until around 12 or 2pm, and then picks back up around 8pm and continues all through the time you are sleeping. Damn weekends are always the hardest! I'm a saddo that loves routine. I went over my calories yesterday and today but they've readjusted to 1770 with last week's loss which I've followed since Wednesday. Today, I started calorie tracking, and it saved my body. To loose weight healthily you should be in 10-20% calorie deficit, I should be eating around 1700kcal daily. I ate more than usual today, 1375kcal, because I realised the numbers were too low. I realised from this that the last 2 weeks i was eating around 900kcal a day, around 50% calorie deficit- WHILST trying to build muscle and working out every day. I thought i was eating enough, but i was so off the mark. 🌿49 день - финиш!! все таки решила сегодня добрать 1700 ккал и официально закрыть разгон 💪🏻я не уверена сколько ккал в обеде, в ресторане говорят 460, но там так много макарон на глаз плюхнули, я скажу что это 600😅после них еще жуткая тяжесть. очень хотела гречку, потому что вкусно, но теперь очень тяжелый желудок. боюсь что завтра весы скажут 👀 больше я в себя пихать еду не буду. буду есть интуитивно и на следующих выходных я перестану считать ккал!!! буду просто записывать что ем. надо избавиться от этой привычки, а то вообще жить нормально не могу. всегда надо залесть в интернет, найти меню ресторанов, калории, ни чем меня не угостить потоиу что я бешусь если не знаю ккал...надо жто изменять. 14:35🌿обед: ~600 ккал -макароны с тофу и овощами (600) 15:45🌿перекус: 40 ккал -какая-то прот конфетка😂(40) 16:32🌿перекус: 177 ккал -сушеная хурма (22) -чиа пудикг (150) -матча чай 17:20🌿ужин/добор: 276 ккал -греча (116) -помидорки черри 3шт. (10) -кефир (150) итог за день: 1693 ккал/1700 ккал✅

My mom asked me what I wanted from her trip to California and I told her I wanted a sweatshirt in a size small, knowing it probably wouldn’t fit but would be a good goal article of clothing and would ultimately fit when I would actually need it. And, bless her, this woman got me an extra small. When I saw it I knew it wouldn’t fit, I didn’t even think I would be able to get it over my head and arms let alone the rest of me, buT YALL IT WENT ON- those titties don’t have any breathing room but that’s beside the point. I never once in my entire life thought I would be able to get into an extra small anything. I thought, even recently, that the smallest I could even get to be would be a small/medium. But the reality is I am not going to be a small/medium, I already am! I’m so excited and thankful for this journey, honestly. Some days are a breeze and some are a struggle. Sometimes I struggle for weeks, or longer, but the difference this time is that I will not give up. It’s not even an option anymore. When things get tough my reaction is no longer just to get overwhelmed and quit, it’s to focus on the important things (taking care of my mental health mostly) and letting myself have the time and space to cope with stress. I know it’s been said again and again, but weight loss isn’t linear- especially if you’re losing a lot of weight and you want to maintain that! Lifestyle changes take time. Breaking 20 years of bad habits did not happen over night for me. However, when I accepted that there would be weeks where I would gain, months where I would make no progress on the scale, that I would likely relapse a few times with ed, and that none of those things made me a failure, the burden of weight loss was lightened. We’re all human, and we should treat ourselves with as much compassion as we treat others. Love yourself first you guys, you’re all worth it! #nsv

I think that's a sufficient workout for Day 1 for the Bowflex 6 Week Challenge 🖤 I felt I needed some direction with lifting weights and what muscle groups to focus on, so a free app is always good + it tracks progress and is only 3 days a week of lifting... The other days should be filled with 20-30 mins of cardio.... Seems simple enough.... Added some kettlebell work & biking because I love swings, deadlifts and biking... 💖My first post... scary! I’ve been really struggling at the moment to stay motivated because I’m not seeing changes in the mirror no matter how much the number goes down on the scale, but sometimes I just need to look back at how far I’ve come already! Almonds, cashews, peanuts, macadamia, brazil... I LOVE NUTS! (If your maturity is as low as mine, you also laughed at that comment) - ♦️They are delicious, full of good health helping fats and go along GREAT with soo many other foods or just as a snack on their own. - ♦️However, when people come to me asking for a great protein source, they are usually wanting something that is high in protein and low in calories. NUTS... Are NOT an option I would EVER recommend in response to this question. - ♦️The quality of protein is not the issue, it’s the additional calories that come along with every gram of protein that nuts contain, due to their very high fat content. - ♦️Nuts are amazing and should you be able to make them fit, enjoy them for the delicious morsels that they are. I am starting personal training tomorrow - I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Great post by @thefitnesschef_ - Let’s talk about compromise. The facts are that most of the time, eventually we end up doing what we want to do. In this case, smothering peanut butter on toast to accommodate a tasty snack (and a desire to eat peanut butter because it’s tasty AF). - - Limitation, exclusion... hyper moderation (new phrase 😎) are things you are told you need to do in order to progress. Whilst this is 100% true in that less calories = more fat loss, when it comes to foods you adore, you can still be conflicted in your mind. You’re told you cannot indulge, but you still want to. You want a certain food but you’ve banned it, or you’ve been specifically told not to eat it. Let me tell you something. Eventually you will eat that food, and the longer you deprive yourself of it, the more monumental the extortionate excess will be. Additionally, making the portion size so small that you barely taste it also makes the experience pointless. It defeats the purpose and the reason you consume that food in the first place - because you like the taste of it. - - Sometimes it’s about accepting that you will indulge in your favourite foods. Accept that you love a certain food and enjoy it I’m accountable excess (without being too ridiculous with portion size). Take it for what it is. Progress can still be made if you come to a compromise. Don’t dip your toast in a bucket of peanut butter, instead enjoy a moderate whack of the stuff. When you do it, be accountable and adjust the rest of your diet to accommodate if need be. After all, you want to be balanced in your calorie intake, but also in your mind.
